The Champion Township Recreation Plan
The Planning Commission has prepared an update of the township Recreation Plan. This plan has been approved by the Township Board, and will be submitted to the state for approval. Follow these links to see the plan.

The Champion to Van Riper Pathway
The Champion Township Planning Commission is pleased to announce that the Champion to Van Riper bike and walking trail is nearly completed. This project provides a non-motorized link for bikers, walkers, horseback riders, and others to safely travel between the village of Champion and points west as well as allowing visitors at Van Riper State Park and residents on the east end of Lake Michigamme the opportunity for safe, non-motorized travel to the east. The project is expected to be finalized in the spring of 2009.
The Planning Commission has recommended, and the Champion Township board has approved, the naming of this pathway as the "Champion Beach Trail" incorporating the locally well-known name for the beach at Van Riper State Park.
The Planning Commission would like to thank all of the people locally, and from across the country, who wrote letters of support and donated money toward this project. Without your support this project would not have been possible.
